PEST INDEX

Of:

Mice (rats) and men

“Rats are our enemies and our enemies are rats!”

Rodents have been plaguing man since the dawn of time.
Carrying diseases and destroying property, mice and rats are aggressive pests to live with…and something you want to avoid.
Nonetheless, mice, rats and other rodents frequently infest homes and buildings in the Montreal area.
Known for seriously damaging walls, floors, furniture and food in closets and garages, they are considered to be one of the major causes of structural damage to buildings.
To makes matters worse, they reproduce at an alarming rate. Female mice can start breeding at the age of six to ten weeks and give birth every 45 days to an average of five pups, and up to 12, in each birthing event!
Spinless enemies they are
These (literally) spineless creatures can easily slide under doors, sneak behind ovens…and fit through extremely-small openings. In addition, they pose a serious health hazard due to the numerous types of diseases they can carry.
They typically build their nests approximately 15 to 20 feet from their food source. Being rodents, they also continuously grow sharp incisor teeth in their upper and lower jaws.
Do you smell a rat?
How do you identify a rodent infestation? The presence of mice or other rodents can be detected by:
  • Seeing them scurrying about
  • The appearance of holes in walls and cupboards
  • Holes in food wrappings
  • The presence of excrement
You should also know; by time you see one or more, they are probably already breeding at an alarming rate, somewhere in your house!
As such, you should immediately start treating a rodent infestation if you suspect their presence.
  • Block all the holes through which they move about with a copper fencing wire.
  • Spring traps and sticky patches work well too, but many consider them inhumane.
If you cannot control the infestation alone, it’s prudent to contact us before the situation gets out of hand
Total extermination is key
Our exterminators detect the point(s) of entry and completely remove the rats and mice. It is especially important to get the mice out of the walls, and the attic, to avoid damage to electrical wiring.
We are government-certified specialists
Our professionals are among the very few specialists certified by the Quebec Ministry of the Environment to dispose of these pests properly.
Additionally, you should never touch a dead mouse or rat with your bare hands as they may carry disease-bearing germs, as well as fleas (which themselves may harbor bubonic plague!)
Prevention is key
Prevention is the best way to avoid proliferation of mice at home. We have prevention techniques we can share with you when you call us.
